Who are you?
(I really want to know.)
How do you figure out who you are?
How do you know what you believe in?
What do you stand for?
These are questions we ask ourselves as we
These are questions you will be asking yourself as you traverse the creative world.
What makes you feel creative?
These videos make me feel creative:
And as a word person, this is my favorite of these videos.
What are the similarities between these videos?
Why is this different from cat videos or little kids on nitrous?
Take a look at the list of questions I have given you below and think about what you want to say about yourself.

Mashups are very clever ways to think about something old in a new way because there is nothing new under the sun.
Moving your body is another way to be creative.

Take a look at the list of questions I have given you below and think about what you want to say about yourself.
- Write down the names of at least five people (living or dead) who inspire you. Alongside each name, identify one positive quality that they embody.
- Do you think you’re currently operating at 100% capacity? If yes then how and why? If no, the same.
- Have you ever dramatically changed a habit, or gotten yourself out of a rut? How’d you do it?
- If you were heading out on a ROAD TRIP right this minute, what would you pack?
- If you were to die three hours from now, what would you regret most?
- Ever fantasize about being in a rock band? What would your group be called?
- What’s your guiltiest of guilty pleasures?
- What’s the hardest thing you ever had to write — and why?
- If you could custom blend a perfume or cologne, what would it smell like?
- Give one adjective that starts with your name.
- If you had a time machine that would work only once, what point in the future or in history would you visit?
- If your house was burning down, what three objects would you try and save?
- If you could talk to any one person now living, who would it be and why?
- If you were an animal, what would you be and why?
- Name one thing you really like about yourself.
- If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Why be introspective?
- Self-aware = human aware
- Human aware = Relation aware
- Relation(s) aware = resonance aware = Connection
- You can use the following formats or more: use this as your first foray into a new creative method.
A poem
A short video
Doing an interpretive dance with narration
Signs
Puppets
A collage
Whatever . . .
Here is some inspiration for you . . .
Check out this slam to get an idea of how you can think about putting this together:
Take some of the answers you get from thinking about these questions and write a rap/song/poem/ to tell us something about yourself. You can use music or pictures, you can ask someone to help you if you think it will be best done by two people. You can ask someone else to perform it but you have to write it and conceive it.
We will experience this performance art during Friday's class.
Here is the assignment sheet to help you think it through.
